So here's my baby belly. I was having a good belly morning so I decided to set the timer on my camera and capture the first day of the 2nd trimester :-) My life is definitely changing for the better. No more puking, acid reflux is more under control, and I'm not asking myself anymore "How do women do this more than once?"Some days I feel exhausted and I'm in bed, I mean recliner, asleep and snoring by 9:30pm. Other days I'm able to stay awake until about 10:30pm. I am also happy to report that I've graduated from Flintstone vitamins to big girl prenatals :-) Cravings.....I would eat El Campesino's mild salsa every day if my esophagus and stomach would allow it...just thinking about it now makes me salivate. I am also determined to find those popsicles....the ones in the long skinny plastic wrappers....no other popsicles will do. Desserts don't sound as appealing as they did before pregnancy...I'd rather have salsa. I also do not want coffee or chocolate, but at least the smell of coffee is starting to smell good again.

Little ALFie
12 weeks 6 days(measuring 14 weeks 4 days)
Fingerprints have formed on our baby's tiny fingers. Veins and organs are clearly visible through still-thin skin and baby's body is starting to catch up with baby's head. If ALFie is a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Our baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.
I was excited to learn that I am ranking right with the 20 year olds as far as my risk of having a baby with chromosomal problems. Before the recent blood work and baby's neck scan, I had a 1 in 750 chance because of my age. Dr. says that my results now show I only have a 1 in 10,000 chance! Only 27 weeks to go!
Baby
This little one is making mommy pretty tired and full of excess stomach acid. After trying tums, rolaids, pepcid, and zantac mommy is hoping Nexium will relieve the discomfort and burning in her chest. Mommy has been sleeping in a recliner for nearly 3 weeks now, but is not complaining...It's actually pretty comfortable and definitely helps keep the acid out of my mouth in the mornings. I'm also proud to say that it's been almost a week since I last threw up! I was down 3 lbs but am back up at my conception weight and ready to put some baby weight on! Baby is measuring 12 weeks and 2 days, but according to the first due date given, I am only 11 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I'll see the specialist for one last visit in a week then I'll be released to my regular OB/GYN. I'll have to ask if my due date is still 9-29-09. Nana went with me to the ultrasound today since daddy is away for work (and a little play). I'm still feeling boy but will be happy to sport some pink! Speaking of pink...B.'s youngest brother and his wife recently had their 2nd child...a beautiful baby girl. Looking forward to seeing her again soon!
